Supporting our mission to break thru the language barrier improving educational, occupational and social opportunities for people who are deaf, AND giving back to the community is an important part of what we are.
Examples of this involvement are:
Donated $10,000 to a local elementary school. Under writing the cost for the entire 5th grade to attend a 3 day science field trip to John Knox Ranch.
D.I.S. gives $1,000 annually to the "Ben Varner Memorial Scholarship Fund" established by North East Independent School District. This scholarship is given to a well deserving college bound deaf student to assist with his/her education.
Platenum sponsor to the annual T.S.I.D. (Texas Society of Interpreters for the Deaf) Conference.
D.I.S. offers scholarships for each of our sign language classes, as well as donating scholarships for silent auction fund-raisers.

Contributing sponsor of Samuel Clemen's High School Athletic Program.
Conducts Deaf Awareness presentations to various organizations as well as private and public schools, including Health Fair and Career Days.
Consulted for an International Company on providing communication devices and services for the Deaf.
D.I.S. contributes to the "Connection Club" which is sponsored by the Interpreter Training Program at San Antonio College. This Club brings new interpreting students together with Deaf Culture first hand.
D.I.S. works with Down Syndrome and Autistic children, their parents, and support group, by enhancing communication through the use of Sign Language.
D.I.S. regularly contributes to various charities such as:
